About Imagineering

There are a range of creative methods that utilise culture and the arts to better engage with young people in order to help them plan for their lives and the development and improvement of their own communities.

You can discover more about a person in an
hour of play than in a year of conversation.

Using visual stimuli, or asking people to create visual images, is one way of engaging them at a different level. Through creative consultation you can
involve communities in local decision-making and in exploring solutions
to a range of issues. The Imagineering approach can work with the full spectrum of creative arts and, though by no means an exhaustive list, can include -

  • play
  • video
  • puppetry
  • music
  • poetry
  • drama
  • story-telling
  • visual arts
  • sculpture
  • dance
  • architecture
  • animation & video
  • blogging

These activities can elicit thoughts, feelings and views on most aspects of community life. This approach has been successfully used on a wide range
of projects, to more meaningfully engage with young people.

Language is a process of free creation; its laws and principles are fixed, but the manner in which the principles of generation are used is free and infinitely varied. Even the interpretation and use of words involves a process of free creation.
